Grant Hutchinson – Founding Lawyer

Grant Hutchinson is the founding lawyer of YourLawyer. In 2014, he saw the need to establish a legal office which has a business model designed to provide an effective and efficient legal service in the particular areas of law practised by YourLawyer.

Grant’s experience in the law, together with his innovative approach to the running of a legal office, ensures that the clients of YourLawyer can be assured that their legal issues will be addressed in a timely and professional manner.

Grant is at the forefront of legal office management and implementing cutting edge ideas to ensure that clients of YourLawyer receive specialised advice in a cost-effective manner.


Edmund Saw - Manager/Senior Lawyer

In July 2015, Edmund became the Manager at YourLawyer.

Following completion of his Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws at Monash University, Edmund commenced his legal career on 2001 in Malaysia focusing primarily in Employment Law and Civil & Commercial Litigation.

Edmund returned to Melbourne and commenced working with Hutchinson Legal in January 2008, primarily in civil/commercial litigation (including Debt Recovery) and employment law (including Employment Contracts and Unfair Dismissals). He also gained significant experience in bankruptcy and corporate insolvency/liquidations (including Preference Claims) under guidance of the partners at Hutchinson Legal.

He now continues to practice as a Senior Lawyer, providing advice and representation in victims of crime applications, compensation orders under the Sentencing Act, and civil actions for loss and damage arising from injury suffered resulting from crimes against the person. Edmund also continues to practice in the areas of insolvency debt recovery and employment law.

Over the years in legal practice, Edmund has developed strong relationships with clients he has assisted as well as referrers and other professionals he has worked with.

During his down time, Edmund can be found on the golf course or on a road trip with family and friends in search of good food and wine.

 


Con Nottas - Director

Con is a Director of YourLawyer with over 20 years’ experience in legal practice.

Con has looked after numerous clients from all walks of life and handled a wide variety of legal matters including civil/commercial litigation, bankruptcy and corporate insolvency/liquidations and employment law.

Con, together with Grant, manages YourLawyer, ensuring that our legal services are provided in a caring, reliable and professional manner to all clients of YourLawyer.

Con’s persuasive, thorough and detailed approach to his legal work, combined with his friendly and positive disposition are valued by clients and staff alike.

A keen Western Bulldogs supporter, Con balances his legal commitments with a range of sporting and outdoor adventure pursuits including downhill skiing, cycling, Futsal (indoor soccer) and travel.

 


Jessica Theunissen – Lawyer

After completing her Bachelor Degrees in Law and Arts at the University of Western Australia in 2011, Jessica relocated to Melbourne and gained experience working in personal injury and litigation, including claims for compensation by child abuse victims as well as workers’ compensation matters.

Having been admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria as an Australian Lawyer, Jessica joined the YourLawyer team in May 2014 where she now primarily practises in crimes compensation and personal injury matters including TAC and WorkCover.

Jessica has successfully handled hundreds of claims before the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT), including her own appearance work, as well as applications in the County Court of Victoria for compensation for victims under the Sentencing Act 1991.

Jessica understands that for people that have been injured as a result of a traumatic event, whether that be at work, on the road or elsewhere, understanding the various legal pathways can be confusing. Jessica is able to simply explain the legal options to clients to assist them in deciding the right pathway for them.

Jessica has a friendly and approachable manner that puts clients at ease. She is passionate about helping injured victims to get the assistance they need to start the recovery process.

During her free time, Jessica enjoys playing guitar and violin, eating good food and travel planning to exotic destinations.

 


Tess Blackie - Lawyer

Tess joined the YourLawyer team in April 2015 as a Law Clerk after completing her studies in Law and International Relations at Deakin University. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria as an Australian Lawyer in October 2015.

Tess has completed a work placement at the Department of Human Services Child Protection Legal Division. She was student-editor of the Deakin Law Review and a speaker in Deakin University’s winning 2014 Willem C Vis Moot Competition team.

At YourLawyer, Tess aims to achieve outcomes for victims of crime which will enable them to begin their recovery process, and hopes to continue to work and grow within the highly skilled team at YourLawyer to provide similar assistance to other clients in future.

In her free time Tess helps research and draft articles on criminal and international business law, and enjoys a good book and live music.

 


Caroline Voss - Lawyer

Caroline joined the YourLawyer team in July 2015, having been admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria as an Australian Lawyer in June 2015.

Prior to joining YourLawyer, Caroline worked in the insolvency sector in private practice and at the Australian Financial Security Authority.  Whilst completing her Graduate Diploma of Legal Studies, Caroline gained experience working in family law and commercial matters in boutique law firms in Melbourne.  During her law degree, Caroline interned in the litigation department of a top-tier law firm in Dublin.

At YourLawyer, Caroline is committed to helping victims of crime obtain the assistance needed to begin their recovery.  

Caroline holds a Bachelor of Laws with Distinction from the University of Western Australia and has previously completed a Bachelor of Arts/Commerce.

During her free time, Caroline enjoys relaxing with friends, playing tennis and running.

 


Luke McPhie – Lawyer

Luke graduated from Deakin University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours). Luke completed his Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice early in 2016 at Leo Cussen Centre for Law and was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria as an Australian Legal Practitioner in August 2016.

Simultaneously whilst studying, Luke volunteered at a Legal Centre in Melbourne, for Legal Aid and at a private criminal law firm. Luke has a particular interest and passion in criminal law and since joining the team at YourLawyer Luke assists clients with their Victims of Crime Applications as well as in criminal law related matters.

During his spare time you will find Luke playing competition football or cricket, on the golf course, fishing, travelling or spending time with family and friends.

 


Matthew Sinclair - Lawyer

Matthew graduated from La Trobe University, Melbourne in 2015 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and was admitted to the legal profession as an Australian Lawyer in August 2016.

Prior to commencing with YourLawyer, Matthew gained invaluable experience working in a variety of litigation practice areas including class actions, commercial litigation, and personal injury litigation. Matthew has also worked as a volunteer lawyer in a community legal centre that specialises in advocacy for people with a disability.

Matthew commenced employment with YourLawyer in July 2017, working in a range of areas including claims before the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal, WorkCover, Motor Vehicle Accident (TAC) claims and other personal injury matters.

Outside of work Matthew enjoys playing and refereeing basketball, hiking, cycling and catching up with family and friends. 

 


Yeng Dao – Law and Administration Clerk

Yeng joined the YourLawyer team in April 2016 as a Law and Administration Clerk. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Law Degree after previously completing a Bachelor of Business Degree at La Trobe University in 2005.

When not working, Yeng enjoys bike riding and skiing. 

 

 

 


Vibeke Rota – Administrative Assistant

Vibeke joined YourLawyer in February 2016 as an Administrative Assistant, with a background in administration and social support services.

In her spare time she likes to read books, listen to music and just relax.

 

 

 


Jenny Newett - Administration Manager

Jenny joined YourLawyer in July 2017 as our Administration Manager/Bookkeeper.

Jenny has a strong background in legal office management and bookkeeping, having worked for Lawyers over many years.  Jenny prides herself on her ability to communicate effectively and get the job done.

When not working, Jenny enjoys spending time with her family and planning her next holiday.
